Hollywood to the Junkyard

In my robot-like ways, I have my dog walk route programmed into my legs.  On this one particular street there is this ugly duckling property that contains a dilapidated house and a yard stacked full of the random junk.  Everything from tractors to dishwashers to dolls.  But the one item that always grabs my attention is the Hollywood lights that clearly have seen better days.  So today on my walk, I decided to capture and share a highlight on my stroll.

Little Italy Art Walk - 2009

Yesterday was the annual Art Walk in Little Italy, and coupled with the beautiful weather, it was a great time full of art, music and socializing.  This year I showed at Maida, so I was happy that I got to partake in the experience and walk around and check out all the other art and soak in the sun street-side at a cafe with my friends.
Hands down, my favorite new find was the work done by Tennessee native, Andy Anh Ha.  His work was incredible: www.AndyAnhHa.com  His panels, some in a series, are composed of simplistic compositions, with an incredible balance of color saturation and movement.  I have every intention of acquiring one of his pieces!

Food: Wasabi Pea Salmon

I have been on an Asian inspired cooking binge.  Amy silently convinced me I needed to purchase fish sauce and the rest is history.....I have fallen in love with jasmine rice, have a new respect for spicy peppers and love love love red curry.  But tonight I made this incredibly easy dish: wasabi pea encrusted salmon with ginger snap peas.  Amazing!

But despite my food coma, I need to make mock ups for my cards to disperse at the Little Italy Art Walk this weekend, April 25-26.  I didn't submit for a booth this year, my creativity has been cruising at a lull for the past few months, but I foresee this already changing!  I will be showing my photography at Maida www.maidasalon.com @ 1910 State Street- which will be open this Saturday.  Farah Hurdle owns this awesome salon, and they do amazing hair!  But, she has shown my photography since November, which hangs on raw concrete walls in a minimalistic interior.  She will also have other artists and jewelry designers at her store on Saturday, so I hope the crowds make their way in!
