Alice in Wonderland

This weekend I caught the much talked about flick, Tim Burton's Alice and Wonderland. I felt it necessary to watch it in 3D, which definitely enhanced the visual effects, especially for scenes like Alice falling through the rabbit hole. The movie was a fantastic artistic film. As for the general plot and flow of dialogue, it was good but nothing to rave about. However, the design aspects were so creative and incredible! Tim Burton did not let the audience down through his highly crafted depiction of Wonderland, leaning on Karen O'Hara and Peter Young for set decoration, Colleen Atwood for costume design and Valli O'Reilly's make-up team. Johnny Depp did a fantastic job playing the crazy Mad Hatter character, and his make-up was insane- it looked like the Mac counter on acid!

i don't believe i've seen Johnny Depp in a bad role, albeit his portrayal of John Dillinger in "Public Enemies" wasn't his best performance...i liked the way the story was told, but it shouldn't have been filmed like "Miami Vice" or "Heat". it was a Michael Mann production though and that's what he's know for. i do agree with the make-up aspect though, as my sister used to work for MAC and would get these make up kits that would make Bob Ross jealous. imagine what his paintings would have looked like if he wore 3D glasses.
