In downtown Encinitas along the 101, sits Rustic Rooster, a chic seaside design boutique. The always changing inventory of vintage and original pieces is handpicked by a mother & daughter team (Sally & Alexandra). There is an eclectic mix of furnishing, lighting and accessories (pottery, shells, and my favorite - the ceramic winged pig!). Rustic Rooster also offers design services, from full interiors to refinishing furniture. It's worth a stop inside, and after 9 years, their unique cottage style clearly has a local following.On a side note, I like to pop in Rustic Rooster after I pick up a coffee across the street in the Lumberyard. On one particular day, Sasha, was greeted out front by the most adorable little boy on a mission to give a deserving pup a huge dog bone. Sasha lucked out, and got the treat, and the boy triumphantly walked away. As I went inside and chatted it up, I later learned that it was Alexandra who sent the boy on the quest - just goes to show how friendly this place is!
